    Swiss Oatmeal (Bircher Muesli)

Invented by a Swiss doctor as a way to ensure his patients got more raw fruit into their diets, Bircher Muesli is the original “overnight oats” that have gotten so popular today.  While any fruits, nuts, and grains can be used, traditionally, apples, walnuts, almonds and berries are used in Switzerland- but whatever your kids will eat works. To increase sweetness, use vanilla yogurt instead of plain.

Mix oats, apple, milk, yogurt, brown sugar, and honey together into a bowl. Chill in refrigerator for at least two hours, up to 24 hours. Mix in berries before serving.
