    Bechamel Sauce

    This white sauce is extremely common in French, Italian, American, and even Spanish cooking.  Used for serving with pastas, eggs, meats, and even inside sandwiches and croquettes, the versatile and rich sauce compliments many dishes extremely well.

     

    Heat the milk in microwave or saucepan to get warm. In another saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Add the flour and stir together for 2 minutes. Slowly pour the hot milk over the flour and butter mixture and whisk continuously for several minutes, until the sauce is thickened. Remove from heat.
